Vs. 1 and 2 -> Interesting that almost at the same time as God was speaking with Nephi, He was giving Lehi a vision. He was speaking with Nephi and could have told him what He was telling Lehi (about him and his brothers needing to go back to Jerusalem to get plates) but He uses line of authority. No boundaries of time for God. Also possible divine investiture of authority.
